Soft Pastel is now a primary medium of study for me. I had shied away from them for many years because of the expense and they can be quite dusty and messy. The payoff out-weighs the detractors though.  Pastels are quite forgiving in their application, and they present beautifully. The artworks have no glare and it gives the observer a wonderful experience and an ability to really see all the rich chroma and deep darks as I typically use in my pieces.
